Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) begins
with putting students at the center. At
Bridges to Belonging LLC, we take a
holistic approach that supports the entire
school community—from staff to
students—by strengthening relationships
and building meaningful partnerships
within and beyond the school walls. We
guide faculty and staff through CASEL’s
five competencies, helping schools
develop or refine strong, sustainable SEL
foundations. With a deep commitment to
equity, our work is grounded in the needs
of diverse learners, ensuring every

Upcoming events

Kimberly de Lara-Staunton is a National Board Certified Teacher and holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and master’s degrees in English as a Second Language (ESL) and Instructional Leadership. She is also a certified yoga instructor for children, youth, and adults. She is currently working on her PhD in Educational Psychology. She began her career in education as a gifted and talented teacher before transitioning into teaching diverse learners. Her work in ESL provided opportunities to grow as a leader and shape educational practices for ESL teachers. She has held roles as team leader, peer coach, and ESL Advisor. Her specialty areas include family and community engagement, designing and facilitating professional development for teachers and school leaders, curriculum development, collaborative leadership, and state and federal compliance. She is a member of the TN TESOL (Tennessee Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages), TESOL, and the Multilingual Memphis Regional Network. In addition, she is a Memphis transplant, a wife, and mother of two teen sons who values mindfulness, inclusion, equity, compassion, integrity, and environmental stewardship.

Kimberly de Lara- Staunton, NBCT, M. Ed

Safiyyah Salaam holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and master’s degrees in Collaborative Education and Educational Leadership with an English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement. She began her career as a special education teacher and team leader and eventually shifted to ESL where she has worked as a team leader, peer coach, and ESL Coordinator. She currently works as the Director of Student Services at a local private school, overseeing equitable services for Title 1, ESL, and intervention students. Her specialty areas include family engagement, instructional planning and coaching, learning differences, and classroom inclusion. She is a member of the TN TESOL (Tennessee Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) and she teaches as a course instructor online for the Ribaat Academic Institute. In addition, she is a Memphis transplant, a wife, and mother of three teen daughters. Her core values are integrity, excellence, child-centeredness, empathy, and cultivation.
